Android What What

By Tyler

With the news that Verizon is going to be getting an Android phone (the Motorola Calgary ) I started to think. Why is Google just releasing a phone’s OS and not the hardware too. What makes Apple sucessfull is that they have the ability to control what software goes on what hardware. I am worried that companies like Motorola and Samsung will put Android on hardware that cant really support the OS. I would love to see a phone made by Google running Android.

Whats your thoughts on this?

The Goolge Habbit

By Tyler

The google habbit is when people just type the url of a website in the google search box and not in their browser’s url box. People don’t realize how important search is. Today I had a ticket in my inbox about a site not working. I went to the user’s desk and found the user using google to enter the url. Guess what? The site he was looking for wasn’t on the first page. Here lies the problem. We have become so reliant on google’s results.

I started to notice users falling into this habit a while ago. I thought it was crazy until I realized I was doing it as well. The more accurate google got, the more I just started to rely on its results. The big problem is this; what if the site doesn’t rank well? Let’s get back to the place where we type the full url in the browser’s url box.

Pandora on the Blackberry

By Tyler

This is great news I have been a big Pandora fan for a while. This is so big for me. One of my favorite radio stations just changed formats and I have been going up and down the radio dial to find another station. This solves the problem now I can plug my Blackberry into my car and listen to all of my Pandora radio stations.

Wake up Microsoft

By Tyler

I titled this post “wake up Microsoft” because im sick of listen to the fan boys go on about how MS sucks. I guess I should start off by saying I have been working in the IT field for 13 years and have mostly always used MS products. From Exchange to MS paint and for the most part I have a had a positive experience. What the apple fan boys don’t know is that MS has alot of amazing software out there that no one knows about.

case in point  Windows Media Center First what is Windows Media Center – its an application designed to serve as a home-entertainment hub. It has a built in DVR, It plays DVD’s, Movie files, Music and has a lot of online content.

Apple comes out with apple TV and everyone is blown away with the technology when really MS came out with Media Center in 04. Its not Apple fault that they are great at advertising . Thats MS’s biggest problem no one knows about some of there best software.

so I guess that’s my rant thanks for listening.
