The google habbit is when people just type the url of a website in the google search box and not in their browser’s url box. People don’t realize how important search is. Today I had a ticket in my inbox about a site not working. I went to the user’s desk and found the user using google to enter the url. Guess what? The site he was looking for wasn’t on the first page. Here lies the problem. We have become so reliant on google’s results.
I started to notice users falling into this habit a while ago. I thought it was crazy until I realized I was doing it as well. The more accurate google got, the more I just started to rely on its results. The big problem is this; what if the site doesn’t rank well? Let’s get back to the place where we type the full url in the browser’s url box.

Tonight I stayed in and decided to watch a movie. I opened up Firefox and went straight to hulu . I came across this movie called Confessions of a Superhero . For some reason, I remember hearing about the movie, so I watched it. Well, I really enjoyed it. I have seen a ton of movies in the past few months and most of them were bad. What I liked about this movie was that it was beautifully shot, the music was great and I loved the photos that were placed in between shots. If you get an hour and half and want to see a great documentary check it out

This morning on the way into work I heard an interesting story on NPR. The news reports was about the Federal Reserve Dept. It is going to start showing ads before movies. The ads would say things like “Are you facing foreclosure?” and “It shouldn’t hurt to get help!” They are basically trying to get people to go to their website and learn some tips on how not to lose your house. First of all, I think its great that the Gov. is looking at different ways to reach the public. The ads start April 9th and will only show in the states that have the highest foreclosure rate.
Here is my problem; if your house is going into foreclosure, why are you going to the movies? The American public has a big problem. We think that the Gov is going to save us. We think that we can spend, spend, spend on credit cards and not pay it back. In my opinion, a better way would be to use the web or a TV ad. It costs at least $20 dollars to go to the movies with someone. Who can afford that…. oh. People who’s houses are being foreclosed on.

Quick rant – The reason I dislike tiny url’s most has to do with the fact that I never know where the link is taking me. For example, let’s just say I tweet about this really funny video and you click the tiny url bellow.
http://tiny.cc/hLJtv The question is: would you really have clicked that link if you knew it was going to take you to that video? what I think tiny url should try to create is a way to be able to title the url once you hover over it. If you can think of a better way to fix this, post a comment. Thats all I have to say. Later

Over the weekend Kyle, Ashley and I were outside playing with Camden and Charles (Kyle and Jenna’s dogs) When I decided to take a few photos. I am pretty happy with how they came out. Later that night we played the Dictonary game till midnight. It was a good time. Hope things are well. – Gods Speed
